Mani Rimdu is the sacred Buddhist Festival celebrated to quell demons and reward the virtuous. It is a series of sacred ceremonies and events of empowerment for 19 consecutive days eminent in the district of Mt. Everest-Solukhhumbu and celebrated in the three holy places Tengboche, Thame and Chiwong. Mani Rimdu is divided into six preparations; Construction of the sand mandala, the Empowerment (Wong), the Dances (Chham), Ser-Kyem, the Fire Puja (Jinsak) and Chhingpa. Similarly, Mani Rimdu has three main days of major celebration such as Chham (The Dance), Jinsak (Fire Puja) and Mandala destroying.
