Overview

Mani Rimdu Trekking is the sacred Buddhist Festival celebrated to quell demons and reward the virtuous. It is a series of sacred ceremonies and events of empowerment for 19 consecutive days eminent in the district of Mt. Everest-Solukhhumbu and celebrated in the three holy places Tengboche, Thame and Chiong. Mani Rimdu is divided into six preparations; Construction of the sand mandala, Empowerment (Wong), the Dances (Chham), Ser-Kyem, the Fire Puja (Jinsak) and Chhingpa. Similarly, Mani Rimdu has three main days of major celebration such as Chham (The Dance), Jinsak (Fire Puja) and Mandala destroying.

Trekkers for Tengboche take a flight to the world's most dangerous airport, Lukla Airport. The surprising landscape and views of Himalayan chains are jaw-dropping. Meanwhile, the trekking starts from Lukla and elevates to Namche after a few days of hard climbing. Namche Bazar is the best place offering magnificent and astounding views of nature, landscape, pubs, spas, rivers and the hot shower relieving the soul and body by providing sufficient time for acclimatisation. Finally, trekkers reach the Tengboche (3870m).

During the time of the sacred ceremonies, tourists are heartily welcomed to participate in all the series of events and celebrations. The two major categories of the same ethnicity Sherpa and Lama gather together at the monastery with the monastic community to pray for the prosperity of the world. Likewise, Buddhist communities along with trekkers are involved in prayers, chanting, colourful Lama dancing, wearing brocade gown and artistic papier-mâché masks. In the meantime, the trekkers’ excursion also experiences all the events and celebrations including participating in it. Life seems full of aesthetic culture and soulful experiences.

The alluring and majestic views of charismatic and giant snow-clad peaks like Mt. Everest (8848m), AmaDablam (6812m), Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7855m), Kongde, Thamserku (6430m) also holy mountains Khumbila (5761m) can be sighted up-close. Moreover, The Fire Puja is absolutely soulful with an objective to alleviate all the harm in the world performed by burning the grain and butter in a fire followed by the humorous dances and chanting.  Later, travellers see the Sand Mandala is put to an end piece by piece. It is the insightful and adventurous trekking of the lifetime.
