Overview

The Langtang Helambu Trek, located just north of Kathmandu Valley, is a fantastic choice for many travelers due to its rich culture and proximity. It's a top trekking route that promises a memorable journey.
Your adventure Trekking begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu along the Pasang Lamu highway, passing through Kakani, Trishuli, Dhunche, and Shyabrubensi. The trek unfolds as you walk through lush forests filled with Pine and rhododendron trees, enjoying majestic mountain views in the distance.
After reaching Langtang village, your trek continues to Kyangjin Gompa and the Yala Cheese Factory. The path to Langsisa offers fantastic glacier views, and you can find huts within a day's walk from Kyangjin Gompa.
The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is another popular destination, offering panoramic views and diverse landscapes. Hiking Kanzangri and Tserko Ri for stunning views of the Tibetan plateau and Langtang Lirung is an exhilarating experience.
Langtang Valley is a well-known trekking spot. Despite its closeness to Kathmandu, it has preserved its traditional way of Tamang and Sherpa people, their culture, and lifestyle. This adventure provides stunning Himalayan views and a chance to immerse yourself in the rural Temang culture.
You'll witness awe-inspiring peaks like Mt. Langtang Lirung (7,200m), Mt. Ganesh Himal (7,600m), Mt. Langtang-II (7,227m), Mt. Gang Chhenpo (6388m), Mt. Naya Kanga Ri (5846m), and Mt.DorjeLakpa(6966m)- and many other Himalayan peaks. The trek also takes you through enchanting rhododendron and bamboo forests, homes of rare red pandas, abundant wildlife, majestic waterfalls, and soothing hot springs.
The trail passes through traditional Tamang villages, the Langtang Valley, and friendly Tamang and Sherpa villages near Kyanjing Gompa. On your way to Gosainkunda, you'll witness the sunrise over the sacred Gosainkunda Lake. The Laurebinayak Pass offers beautiful rugged terrain, splendid monasteries, delightful villages, including Melamchi, Tarke Gyang, and Sermathang.
 On the way, you might encounter monkeys, Musk Deer, Pikka, and the colorful Danphe, Nepal's national bird, as well as the rare red panda.
Exploring the Langtang Helambu region will introduce you to the unique cultures of the Tamang and Sherpa communities. In Tharepati, you have the upper side of Melamchi Valley and the eastern Himalayan range. Melamchi, Tarke Gyang, and Sermathan are beautiful villages and lifestyles of the Helmo people. On the way down from Sermathan, you have an alluring view of the terrace rice field. The warm and welcoming locals have strong family ties and rich traditions, enhancing your trekking experience.

Note: In our trekking packages, we usually include a tour with sightseeing and hotel costs. However, if you'd rather choose hotel  your self ,and skip the sightseeing tour, we can reduce the package cost.

Itineraries

  • 01 arrival in ktm

    Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to Hotel Arrive at the Tribhuwan international airport where you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. This day is simply an arrival day and there will be no any organized activities. So, you will have some free time to relax or walk around for local sights. A pre-departure meeting will be held early evening and you will be introduced with your trekking guide. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

    Kathmandu half day Sightseeing and trek preparation Today after breakfast, we start a guided sightseeing to major historical and religious sites in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites that include the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddhanath) which is one of the largest Stupas in the world. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu 1337 meter.

    Drive to Syabrubesi (1460 m), 8 hrs We start our overland journey about 7 AM in the morning heading north out of Kathmandu through scenic foothills to Syabrubesi. The first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth. The path moves along the blacktopped road. During the rainy season, the road is sometimes blocked due to landslides.     Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m), 5 hrs Today is our first trekking day through Bamboo (1960m.). Some of the places make ascents and descents. At the end the trail is easy and level to the Lama Hotel. En route if we are lucky we can see red pandas, bears and monkeys. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Langtang village (3430m.) via Ghore Tabela Leaving Lama Hotel, we head for Langtang village. At Ghora Tabela the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, we will catch a glimpse of flora and fauna. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer. We can visit a monastery on the way to Langtang. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Kyangjin Gompa (3850m) 3 hrs Today you climb slowly through small villages and Yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Overnight at lodge

    Rest day at Kyangjin Gompa & excursion in & around This day is reserved for rest and to explore the surrounding area. You will visit the Kyangjin monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m), directly at the rear of the village for a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang peaks or We can make day trip to Tseguri as well.     Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m) From Kyangjin, we retrace our trekking route following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch we continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Overnight at Lodge

    Trek to Thulo Syabru village (2130m) Today we walk through bamboo & rhododendron forest where we may see the local wild boar as well as other animal and birds on the way to Thulo-Syabru village. En route we have marvelous and close-up view of Mt. Ganesh Himal. Firstly we do easy downhill walk following the river bank but last part we steeply climb up hill for couple of hours until we reach the village at Thulo Syabru. Overnight at lodge

    Trek Thulo Syabru village to Sing Gompa (3330m) 4-5 hrs walk Today we walk around 4-5 hours through dense forest of pine and rhododendron to reach Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari) where we stay overnight at lodge. The trail from here is mostly uphill with typically Himalayan terrain. We enjoy excellent views of the mountain and natural scenery from open areas we reach. After arrival in hotel we refreshed and then make an excursion to cheese factory as well as forested area.

    Trek to Gosainkunda (4380m) Today we follow a wonderful trail to reach at holy Gosainkunda Lake passing through Cholagpati and Lauribinayak. This area is the homeland of the Tamangs and Bhotias. Here we spend a short time observing rural mountain lifestyles and the cultural contrasts between Hindu and Buddhist villages. In the evening we are able to simply relax or take a walk around the lake and surrounding area. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Ghopte (3,480 m) The trail leads to northern part of Gosainkunda and then we embark on the challenging the Laurebinayak pass at 4,600m.After 4 to 5 hours of trekking we arrive at Ghopte for overnight stay at lodge.

    Trek to Tharepati Today we walk only a few hours to Tharepati through the forest after several ups and down.We will enjoy attractive mountain view and experience the local culture and lifestyle of the people. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Melamchi Goan From Tharepati the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forests with good views down into the Helambu Valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu. Melamchi Gaon is surrounded by beautiful forests, and is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people with their distinctive culture. There are also some Buddhist monasteries to visit along the trail. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Tarke Ghyang The early part of the trek descends until you cross Melamchi river. Then you trek gently up to Tarkeghyang passing through Sherpa settlements. Tarkeghyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of the oldest and biggest monasteries along the trail. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Sermathang (2620m) Today the trail is quite easier through flat land with beautiful forests along the way. The trek continues crossing some small streams on the way. Our last destination is Sermathang, a beautiful village inhabited by Yalmo community. To add the experience we will also visit many ancient monasteries in and around the village. Overnight at lodge

    Trek to Melamchi Pul bazaar (846m) The trail gradually descends all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through meadows and cultivated fields. On the way, we come across several old villages with their own unique traditions. The trek today is quite pleasant with mountain views and interactions with many local and friendly people.     Drive back to Kathmandu Today we drive back to Kathmandu following the Friendship Highway. Overnight at hotel
