Honey Hunting Tour: A Unique Adventure to Experience the Daring Tradition in the Mountains of Nepal
Honey Hunting Tour is a unique holiday experience in Nepal. It takes you to the remote village of Nepal to explore and enjoy wild honey beehive hunting. Some of the rural areas in the mountains of Nepal are famous for their wild honey harvesting culture from the jagged cliffs.
The traditional wild honey hunters harvest honey in the most daring and traditional way from scary cliffs 100s of meters above the ground. Wild honeybees collect nectar and collect them in the beehive in the cliffs. When those beehives are ready to harvest; traditional honey hunting is organized. The daring traditional honey hunters from the villages gather in the cliffs with beehives. They perform special rituals to initiate the hunting, and later get on to the action.
Honey Hunting Tour is a thrilling action that makes you feel your goosebumps when you see the honey hunters hanging on a cliff with the help of a rope ladder. This action is surely as exciting as things can be. You will learn the traditional lifestyle of people living in the region and also enjoy interesting honey hunting.
Your trip day starts today when you arrive to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Upon your arrival, you will be received by our representative at the airport. He will be carrying a signboard with our company’s name on it. Then you will be transferred to the tour hotel and checked in. A trip briefing will follow later today and the time will be notified to you by the representative who picks you up from the airport. We will come to meet and brief you about the trip at the fixed time. Until then just relax or explore a bit of surrounding.
We take you for a day tour of cultural heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley after breakfast. The tour will give you a mixed insight of history, culture, art, architecture and spirituality of Kathmandu valley. The sites include; Swoyambhunath aka Monkey Temple: The oldest of all sites in Kathmandu valley, Swoyambhunath is an important Buddhist spiritual site having the history over two thousand years old. This site has gained a popular name as monkey temple as this small forested hill is a good habitat for hundreds of monkeys. The visit there will heighten your spiritual and cultural experience. Patan City including Patan Durbar Square: A tour to medieval city of Patan gives you a great insight about ethnic Newari culture, Budhhist spirituality, religious harmony, art and architecture while you stroll around the charismatic alleys taking you to magnificent local community squares known as Bahal and eventually leading you to an incredible medieval palace square. The monuments and skill of the local artisans displayed on those monuments in the square will stun you with their unbelievable charm. Boudhanath Stupa: The largest of its kind in the world, this magnificent stupa is a very important center of faith for the people following Tibetan Buddhism. This place is nice Circular Square with the stunning stupa in the middle of it which spreads a lot of spiritual vibrations around the atmosphere.
We check out the hotel in Kathmandu after the breakfast today to go to Khudi village. The drive takes us to Khudi via Besi Sahar in Lamjung district. The drive takes us through the highway that stretches along beautiful landscapes. We drive past several wonderful small villages and towns which give us the very first-hand experience of life outside Kathmandu city. We reach Khudi to stay overnight.
We will trek to Ghan Pokhara village where we are going to watch and experience the honey hunting. The trek will be of about four hours through beautiful nature and villages along the route. We will reach the magnificence of the village to enjoy the view of mountains and beautiful surroundings. The serenity of nature and the surroundings of this village make our time here beautiful. We will have enough time to explore and enjoy the surroundings once we reach the village.
We will spend the whole day today at the honey hunting site. We will get to watch how the traditional honey hunting takes place. The honey hunters prepare for the hunting in a traditional way by worshipping the nature followed by other preparations. We will enjoy the thrilling act of honey hunting off the scarily high rock cliffs.
After enjoying the traditional honey hunting, we trek back to Khudi village today to stay overnight. The thrilling experience of the traditional expert honey hunters in action is surely an experience for us. With our mission accomplished, we spend a peaceful time at Khudi village.
We will finally drive back to Kathmandu today. After enjoying the wild honey hunting and cultural wonders of the rural ethnic villages in the region, we drive to Kathmandu today via Besi Sahar. Once we reach Kathmandu, we will take an easy time to wander around the local streets and market places. Or we can simply spend relaxing and easy time at hotel.
