Overview

Bhairab Kunda Trekking is a newly developed trekking trail located northeast of Kathmandu in the Langtang region near the Border of Tibet at an elevation of 4245 meters from the sea level. Bhairav is an incarnation of the god Shiva, a well-known furious deity. Many people make pilgrimage hikes to the lake as a kind of holiness. On the way up, a village of ethnic; Newars, Gurungs and Sherpas as the majority at the top. The Tibetan Himalayan Ranges, Jugal Himal, and Rolwalling Himalayan Range are all beautifully visible from Kunda. Every year in June or July, pilgrims from various regions of India and Nepal visit the lake, take a holy bath, and offer prayers to Lord Shiva. Jalbire is a beginning point for the Bhairab trekking trail. This trekking deserves to see the wonders of nature, unique culture, local way of life and traditions. From the trekking route, we could see the entire Rolwaling range, Jugal Himal and portions of the Tibetan plateau and Himalayan range from the top ridge of Bhairab Kunda. Bhairab Kunda Trekking is one of the best nature lost trekking. Many people on the full moon day in August worship and pay homage to the god Bhairab. This trail is not famous from a religious point of view, but it is well known for its stunning scenery. The lake's peak offers spectacular views of the Rollwaling range, Dorje Lakpa, and other adjacent mountains.

Bhairab Kunda Trekking route was newly developed, and today the trekking trail has still full of nature and uniqueness. This trekking is very wonderful dense rhododendron forests, verdant valleys, pure air, a tranquil lake, and on top of it all, the stunning mountains. The ethnic settlements that have maintained their unique culture, tradition, and way of life are on top of this! The Bhairav Kunda Trek is a chance to get to know the inhabitants, their culture, and their traditional settlements. This trekking starts from the small village Jalbire after an experience sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. You pass by numerous ethnic settlements, rhododendron forests, and easy-going ups and down as you stroll along the path. Itineraries

  • 01 Arrival in Kathmandu 1437m /43385 ft.

    Your trip day starts today when you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu upon your arrival. You will receive it from our representative at the airport. Our representative will carry a signboard with our company name or your name on it. Then you will be transferred to the hotel and checked in. A trip briefing will follow later today, and the time will be notified to you by the representative who picks you up from the airport. We will come to meet and brief you about the trip at a fixed time. Until then just relax or explore a bit of the surrounding nearby your hotel or if you stay tourist capital Thamel.

  • 02 Heritage Tour of Kathmandu.

    Today, after breakfast around 9 o’clock, we take you for a day tour of cultural heritage monuments in Kathmandu valley. The tour will give you a mixed insight into the history, culture, art, architecture and spirituality of Kathmandu valley. The sites include; Swayambhunath aka Monkey Temple: The oldest of all sites in Kathmandu valley, Swayambhunath is an important Buddhist spiritual site with a history of over two thousand years. This site has gained a popular name as a monkey temple as this small forested hill is a good habitat for hundreds of monkeys. The visit there will heighten your spiritual and cultural experience. Patan City including Patan Durbar Square: A tour of the medieval city of Patan gives you a great insight into the ethnic Newari culture, Buddhist spirituality, religious harmony, art and architecture while you stroll around the charismatic alleys taking you to magnificent local community squares known as Bahal and eventually leading you to an incredible medieval palace square. The monuments and skills of the local artisans displayed on those monuments in the square will stun you with their unbelievable charm. Boudhanath Stupa: The largest of its kind in the world, this magnificent stupa is a very important centre of faith for the people following Tibetan Buddhism. This place is a nice Circular Square with a stunning stupa in the middle, spreading a lot of spiritual vibrations around the atmosphere. Drive to Nagarkot, a beautiful hill station for a panoramic view of the Himalayas, later after the tour finishes in Kathmandu.

  • 03 Drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire (1000 m3280 ft takes around 4 hours.

    Today, In the morning you'll take a beautiful journey to Jalbire. It takes 4 hours to drive to Jalbire. You can soak beautiful mountain scenery along the route. The road leading to the Nepal-Tibet border is the trade route to Tibet via Araniko Highway, until reaching Balaphi, we follow the Highway northeast from Kathmandu then after turning north to Jalbire. Jalbire the small town used to be one of the major business towns. The overall Balephi Valley is breathtaking, and our drive continues on a gravel road from here to Jalbire. You will arrive in Jalbire, where you will spend your first night at a simple guest house. After an hour of driving upstream along the river on the bank of the Balephi River, there lies a charming Newar settlement called Jalbire. You can learn more about the Newari way of life in this village. In Jalbire, you may also visit a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

  • 04 Trek Jalbire to Chanaute 1,350 m/ 4428 ft takes around 5 hours.

    Today's trek to Chanute will be easy and gradual. Taking about 4-5 hours to reach Chanute, the path passes by a few small, separate Tamang settlements and farmland with views of the magnificent waterfall. The majority of the residents of Chanute are Brahmans and Chettri. Near the school is where your overnight camp is set. From your camp, you relax and stroll around for a take of the stunning mountain scenery. Overnight at Chanute.

  • 05 Trek Chanaute to Khani Gaon 2000 m/6560 ft takes around 6 hours.

    Today is a delightfully long day of hiking, from Chanute to Khani Gaon, which takes around six hours because your journey is over some rocky, narrow, slopes and steep. This walk is a little challenging. Along the way, you will hike by picturesque villages and waterfalls. You will arrive at Khani Gaun as you pass by neighbourhood schools. A Newari village was also known as Dalle Pokhari. Its name comes from a "cute lake" that is nestled away not far from the school. This community has important historical significance. Before the unification of Nepal, there was a war between Gorkha and Bhaktapur in the middle of the 18th century. The inhabitants of Bhaktapur fled the conflict and migrated here.

  • 06 Rest Day for acclimatisation, exploration, and relaxation.

    Today is a day off, exploration and acclimatisation in the lovely village of Khanigaun. After taking in the views of the surrounding mountains, Khani and Gaun both refer to the location of a mine. Following the conflict between Bhaktapur and Gorkha in the 18th century, people from Bhaktapur relocated to this settlement. Discover the picturesque town of Khanigaon's native Newars while savouring their cuisine and dialect by visiting the Dalle Pokhari and interacting with the neighbourhood Newars. Spend the night in a tent camp at Khanigaun.

  • 07 Trek Khani Gaun to Forest Camp 3,150 m/10332 ft, takes around 7 hours.

    Today’s hiking is quite hard. Most of your journey will be a tough climb through a tranquil, cool, and lush rhododendron forest. The trip takes you through quiet, beautiful highland forests that are peaceful. Along the way, you will also come across several cowherds and a shepherd's hut. There are also chances of seeing local wildlife and birds. After 7 hours of trekking in the heart of a forest, we will make camp for an overnight stay.

  • 08 Trek Forest Camp to Pati 3,765 m/12,349 ft takes around 5 hours.

    Today's trekking is a steep ascent. You'll go ahead at a regular pace. Going slowly is recommended. Additionally, take a couple of breaks from time to time. The summit of the ridge is reached at the end of the trail. The nearby sceneries and the snow-capped mountains are visible from the ridge. Pine and rhododendron vegetation around the ridge. You will arrive at the magnificent spot at Pati after hiking for roughly 5 hours. At Pati, there are beautiful mountain views from the campsite. Hereby you can find places designed for pilgrims. These rest homes are for people who travel to Bhairav Kund for a sacred homage pilgrimage during auspicious times according to the Hindu calendar.

  • 09 Trek Pati to Bhairav Kunda 4,250 m/13,940 ft, 4 hours.

    At Pati, you will depart the camp after breakfast. To reach the top of a ridge, you must hike uphill for an hour or more. You may enjoy stunning views of the mountains from the ridge. After the ridge, there is a normal trail. You will be on the Bhairav Kunda trek, your final goal, after three hours of hiking. The Shamans, Buddhists, and Hindu pilgrims travel to Bhairav Kunda to bath in the lake during the full moon in June and August, believing that doing so will wash them all the sins, they did before. Lord Shiva's temple on the lake is a place of worship for his followers. Tented camp at Bhairav Kunda for the night.

  • 10 Trek From Bhairabkunda to Sherpa Gaun 2,500 m/8200 ft, takes around 7 hours.

    In the morning, Sherpa Gaun offers stunning views of the rising sun. You will leave this sacred location after breakfast and climb about two hours uphill to the summit of a hill. Spectacular views of Langtang, the Jugal Himalayan range, the Rowelling range, and the Tibetan range are all visible from this hill. You will spend the next four hours carefully making your way through the breathtaking forest as you descend from here. From Bhairav Kunda, it will take you a total of 6 hours of hiking to get to Sherpa Gaun, where you will spend the night.

  • 11 Trek from Sherpa Gaun to Larche 1,500 m/4920 ft takes around 6 hours.

    The hike to Bhairav Kunda ends today. The Bhote Koshi River bank is reached after four hours of descending trek. You will arrive at Larche for your final evening as you walk through the lovely river 1500 m. It takes five hours to hike from Sherpa Gaun to Larche. In Larche, you will lodge in a tent camp. You can hike for 30 minutes to the natural hot spring from the camp. The hot spring gives you time to relax and your tiredness gets relief by trekking, overnight at the guesthouse.

  • 12 From Larche driving back to Kathmandu by bus takes around 6 hours.

    You will return to Kathmandu once your wonderful and exciting trek to Bhairav Kunda has finally come to end. The route to Kathmandu is picturesque as you pass by various beautiful towns along the way. Larche to Kathmandu takes approximately a six-hour drive. Overnight at Kathmandu hotel.

  • 13 Departure.

    You will be transferred to the airport as per your flight schedule. We will pick you up from the hotel three hours before your flight time.
