Best Time To Travel

High season: The best time to travel to Tibet is in between the months of May and September as the weather there is warm to make the travel conditions easier. This time is considered as the high season to travel to Tibet so the prices are at their highest. As most of the people would like to travel to Tibet in this season, bookings are to be made in advance to make sure of the space in flights and hotels.

Mid-season: The months of April, October and November are considered as the mid-season to travel. The weather is slightly colder than in the high season. There are fewer travellers to Tibet in this season than in the high season so it is not very difficult to make sure of your space in the hotel s. Flights still require reservations in advance.

Low season: The period between December to February is considered as the low season as the weather is at its coldest. Very few people travel to Tibet during this season so there is plenty of space and a heavy discount on costs.

How to Reach There
There are two possible ways to getting into Tibet – by air and overland.

Travellers to Tibet can fly to Kathmandu, Nepal or different cities in China and then take another flight to Lhasa in Tibet autonomous region. The flight from Kathmandu, Nepal is a scenic flight with panoramic views of the Himalayas but there are very limited flights. Less choice of airlines with limited flight schedules can be a little hurdle but the flight is unparalleled with the spectacular view of gigantic mountain range in the Himalayas.

There is a friendship highway connecting Kathmandu to Lhasa. Driving to Tibet from Kathmandu, Nepal is an amazing overland journey. A stretch of 865 kilometers of the highway covers an incredible increase in the elevation. There are various highways connecting Lhasa to different cities in China as well.

There are several other options to get into Tibet from Nepal, especially for the trekkers to go to Mt. Kailash pilgrimage tour.
